The Minsk hospice is an institution of terminal care, which is financed by the state. The former Soviet Republic of Belarus is currently in the worst financial crisis since “Perestroika” and the socially most deprived people are the first ones affected. The Hospice of Minsk lacks of everything: from drugs, which could facilitate the patient’s last days, to diapers. The extremely underpaid staff of the Hospice operates under the worst conditions. Because it can hardly help its patients the personnel suffers from the heaviest psychological stress.
